Fishguard

Pembroke Dock

Tackle problems of:

*   Long-term unemployment and economic inactivity

§  Townscape Heritage Initiative Phase 1 - £15m scheme restoring 21 buildings and creating accommodation for 115 jobs

Restoring quality of the environment in the historic town

Announced in January 2011, a £3.2m EU-backed package – The Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Regeneration Scheme.  This is an integrated programme of road and access improvements, public realm and parking, and grant support for traditional repairs and restoration to historic buildings in the Conservation Area

Tenby

DTZ 2008 – Development Proposals for Future of Tenby’s Multi-Storey and Butts Field Car Parks

Tenby Tourism Growth Area (TGA) Initiative sought to raise the quality of the visitor experience, raise the quality of accommodation and extend the tourist season, as tourism provides the main employment in Tenby

§ Replacement low-water landing stage, pontoon and harbour enhancements to be delivered via Pembrokeshire Coastal Tourism Centre of Excellence project

§ South Beach/Fountains Café Site – being developed as Water’s Edge, 19 apartments plus café-restaurant, and under croft parking

§ The Royal Gatehouse Hotel Site, including adjoining properties Milford House and Kent House, cinema, former petrol station, Royal Lion Hotel and Delphi Apartments on South Parade: redevelopment proposals have received planning permission  ( part of JESSICA / RIFW )

§ Tenby Development Trust has been formed

§ Tenby Tudor Square Enhancements underway in phased stages

*   Provide additional pedestrian links from town centre to Hamilton Terrace and on to the Marina

*   Mixed use development on boatyard to link Marina to town centre

*   Redevelopment of Station and adjoining site to create transport hub and mixed use development

*   Continue to re-focus use of Docks to leisure, residential and tourism, moving heavy marine industries to Pembroke Dock.

Saundersfoot

Powell Dobson Urbanists, 2008 – Saundersfoot Regeneration Strategy

*   Harnessing the energy of the business community to further the fortunes of the resort

*   Linking all attractions incl beach, harbour, foreshore, heritage, natural environment, car parking, retail and entertainment as co-ordinated network of opportunities

§ Saundersfoot Bay Development Trust constituted September 2010 aims ‘to capitalize on our natural assets, to create sustainable and inspirational business, community and lifestyle opportunities’

§ Saundersfoot Harbour Empowerment Order signed by Minister w/e 24 June 2011, resolving legal difficulties and paving way for modernized Commission to be in place by late 2011

§ The Pembrokeshire Coastal Tourism Centre of Excellence project at Coppet hall will be a key development in the regeneration of the Saundersfoot area; due for completion by end of 2014
